Exercise can be fun!

Today was a great day. I have been really stressed out lately since I haven't been able to find a full time job after I finished my phlebotomy certification. It feels awesome to say that I had a great day. Imagine how wonderful things would be if I were able to find a job? :) I'm keeping my head up though because I feel like something will happen soon. I have to remember that God has a plan and his plan might not always be in line with what we want at that time.

Well anyways I guess I should talk about why my day was so great. I could leave you in suspense but I guess I won't do that. I met my mom to take care of a few wedding details around lunch time and then we went to Stephano's for lunch. I had an amazing salad. I am not a salad eater but this one was amazing. Taking into consideration how much I liked it that means that it probably wasn't healthy for me. I hope not! After lunch and a few more wedding errands I came home and did yoga and a few more exercises on the Wii Fit. It felt great. I stuck with it for an hour even when the yoga became difficult!

After that I wanted something to snack on so I actually grabbed an apple. I love fruit but the biggest challenge for me is making the choice to have that instead of having chocolate or something tastier. I was really proud of myself. I just have to keep thinking "baby steps" and I will slowly change my habits.

I also signed up for and started Jazzercise tonight with Emily. It was awesome! It is an hour of upbeat, nonstop, dance cardio. At first I was apprehensive but I always am in new situations. After a few minutes, however, it really started to click. There are people in the class who have been doing it for a long time so I just found a place towards the back where I could follow along. I was really proud of myself for continuing to do it even when it got hard. I am planning on going to the 9:10 class tomorrow morning. Hopefully I won't be too sore!

I guess that's it for now! Stay tuned to see if I can keep up with my new lifestyle!

Church, Jazzercise and Winter Guard

Well so far 2011 is off to a great start! Mike and I went to church this morning with our friend Emily and it was a wonderful service. I know I said I wasn't going to say my New Year's resolutions but I am going to make a better effort to attend church more regularly. I envy people who are very secure in their faith and I have always wished I could be more like that. I have never questioned my faith and I grew up in the church but it can be a lot harder when you get older. It can be very hard to make yourself get up on Sunday and make the effort to go to church. I want to strive to live a life that is more pleasing to God.

St. David's is such a beautiful church and with the Christmond trees, poinsettias, advent wreath, etc. it is even more beautiful. There is a huge wooden cross that hangs from the ceiling in the front of the church and I could sit and look at it for hours! We joined in August of 2010. Mike grew up Catholic and I grew up Lutheran so we were trying to find a common ground. I promise I did not force him to become a Lutheran! :) Mike and I visited several churches before settling on St. David and we have never felt so at home in a church before. It is simply amazing. We have truly found a church that we can call home. Thank you to the Hage family for inviting us to visit and thank you to everyone at St. David for welcoming us with open arms.

On a completely different note my friend Emily (probably the only person reading this blog) and I made arrangements after church to start going to jazzercise together! I have never done it before but Emily has and liked it so I figured why not give it a try! We are going to start tomorrow night (Monday) so I will definitely have a blog posted sometime tomorrow about how it went. Wish me luck!!

I am looking forward to seeing my winter guard babies at Pelion this week! We made great progress with out 2011 show before they went on Christmas break so I hope that they remember everything when I see them this week! Our winter guard show this year is set to Sara Bareilles' song "The Light" and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful show. I am still in the beginning stages of figuring out what direction I want to take the show in and exactly what I want the girls to portray. I may have an idea but I won't reveal that on here just yet. We have our first competition on January 29th so we need to hit the ground running when the girls come back this week! If any of you are out there reading this I want you to stop what you are doing and go practice! :)

I guess that's about all I have for now! I hope that 2011 continues to be a great year. So far it has been wonderful!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I haven't blogged since 2009 so we shall see if I can keep up with it this time. Also please excuse my grammar and punctuation...it sucks :)

I had such a great New Year's Eve last night. Mike and I were surrounded by great friends and we had so much fun with everyone. We hadn't ever really gotten that whole group of friends together before so we were anxious to see how it would all work out but it turned out great! I hope we can have more nights like that again soon.

So I guess this is where I should put my resolutions for the new year. I don't think I'm going to though. Maybe that way if I don't follow through I won't feel as bad ;)

On another note I am very excited for 2011 because this will be the year that Mike and I are getting married! We will be getting married on May 14th. I can't wait for that day to be here. We have been planning for what seems like forever even though it has only been a few months. Wedding planning can be exhausting. There are a million decisions to make and I never feel like I am making any progress on any of it. Regardless of that I know that the wedding will be beautiful and even if everything doesn't go as planned at the end of the day I will be just as married.

Well that's all I have for now so here's hoping that I will remember to update this thing before 2013!

First Thoughts

I just saw the movie "Julie and Julia" tonight. It was really wonderful. I wish that I could cook. My mom always says, "If you can read, you can cook." It has never been that easy for me but this movie inspired me to try. Hopefully I will be able to at some point in my life.

Tomorrow night is our parent exhibition at the high school where I teach color guard. I absolutely love my job. Many people don't know what color guard is. For a basic definition it is the girls with flags that "dance" around the marching band. This is the easiest way to describe it to someone who has no clue. It is very short sighted though. To completely describe color guard would take and entire blog. Maybe someday I'll go into detail but I won't now.

I feel like I have been teaching at band camp for the entire summer even though it has only been 4 weeks. This has been the longest band camp that I have ever done though. The kids are doing so well I just hope that they aren't getting burned out already. It is important, at least in my opinion, to keep a steady but somewhat slower pace so that the "magic" of the show isn't lost in the first few weeks of performing. That is just my opinion though.

Well I guess that's about it for now. Maybe someday I'll have something really interesting to write about but who knows. Only time will tell.
Goodnight bloggers and readers!
